What To Expect Sunday Mornings at Joshua's Crossing
Visiting a church for the first time can be uncomfortable, especially if you don't know what to expect! Here is an outline of what you'll see each Sunday at JC, along with some tidbits that will make your experience one you'll enjoy.
Total Service Time = 70 Min.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I wear?
You'll find all kinds of styles at JC on a Sunday morning, from business casual to folks getting ready to step on a boat out at Lake Texoma! So wear whatever makes you comfortable, because you won't be out of place wearing either shorts, slacks, a T-shirt, or a tie. No matter your choice, you'll fit right in!
What time are the services, and how long do they last?
Services are at 8, 9:25, and 10:50, and last about 70 minutes each. Please note, our 8 o'clock service does not offer children's programs.
What does Joshua's Crossing believe? What denomination are you?
You can read about our stances on major doctrines on our Beliefs Page. We are a non-denominational church that bases everything off what God's Word says. If you have any specific questions you'd like to ask, feel free to Contact Us!
What’s the style of worship/music like?
We play contemporary music that you might hear on current Christian radio or streaming services. (More info on our song choices can be found on our Worship Page.) We have a full band featuring drums, electric guitars, and energetic vocals. We also like it a bit loud, so the volume level sits between 97 and 102 db (earplugs are available on request). Most importantly, it's not a show or performance; it's each of us bringing our best to praise and honor our Savior first and only!
What kind of teaching/preaching can I expect?
Pastor John's messages are always real, always relevant, and always rooted in God's Word. He uses a mix of narrative and expository preaching, which means he takes us through a passage in the Bible and tells us what it means, why it matters, and what we should do about it. He also uses a mixture of personal stories and illustrations. Every message is able to be understood by all, no matter how familiar you are with the Bible. You can get an idea for what the messages sound like by visiting our Podcast Page!
Will I be singled out or pressured to give money?
Unless you say something like "Go Eagles" or "In-N-Out is better than Whataburger", no, you won't be singled out. (We kid, we kid!) We want everyone to feel accepted as they are, which means we don't single people out and we don't pass a giving plate or bucket. Giving happens at the Joy Box in the back of our Worship Center, and our goal would be that no one knows when or if anyone else gives.
What does the church do outside of Sunday services?
Lots of things happen at JC and in our community every week! You can read all about those on our Weekly Ministries Page.
